Welcome Back Two Great Bulls
We are glad to have Asteroid and Mississippi Hippy back on the dirt!!
Interesting Facts
- Robson Palermo pull out last minute due to some kind of allergic reaction. Palermo stated he will be back in action next weekend in Kansas City.
- Guilherme Marchi stated that he feels good for an “old man” but his ribs are still bothering him some.
- Douglas Duncan is still having issues with his foot injury and during round one got his other leg stomped on. So in round two Duncan cowboyed up and was riding with both legs injured. Duncan was out of competition on Sunday (which is the best move he can make right now). Prayers for Douglas to get all healed up on both legs since he is a great bull rider.
- Robson Aragao sustained three breaks in his jaw after his round one collision with Like A Boss. Aragao cowboyed up and continued to compete with a broken jaw. He also had to use a fellow bull riders helmet since his was broken in the accident. Aragao sat out of competition on Sunday.
- J.B. Mauney stated that in his round one out against Superstition that the bull had already won before he left the chute since he was sitting flat.
- J.B. Mauney has a killer Saturday night with winning both the long round two buckle and the 15/15 bucking battle buckle. After JB’s long round win it moved him up to fifth place in the world standings. But JB was not finished yet. JB wins his first even (which is very hard to believe) 15/15 bucking battle with a 90.25 score on Sheep Creek. This was the first time that Sheep Creek had been ridden! After the 15/15 bucking battle win it catapulted JB to second in the world standings.
- Asteroid came out of retirement during the 15/15 bucking battle. It was clear to see that a year off for this rank bull didn’t bother him one bit. Asteroid came to show the world he still has it! Asteroid bucked off Joao Ricardo Vieira in 2.90 second getting a score of 45.75. Welcome back Asteroid! As a side note even before this performance Cody Lambert had slotted Asteroid as number one in his rankings. It looks like Asteroid could be going after another world title this year!!
- Ryan Dirteater took a bad hit after long round two in Saturday. He was out of competition for Sunday.
- Fabiano Vieira was out of competition for Sunday.
- Gage Gay sat out of the championship round due to a concession sustained after bucking off Flip Out.
- Joao Ricardo Vieira sat out of the championship round due to a right hamstring injury.
- Guilherme Marchi sat out of the championship round.
- Ben Jones sat out of the championship round.
- The championship round only had 14 bull riders since so many riders where out due to injuries and that only 20 mad qualified rides all weekend long.
- Mississippi Hippy made his first appearance since undergoing surgery on his infected horns and eyelid due to the finding of a cancerous tumor. Nevada Newman selected Hippy in the championship round. Newman was able to slay the almost 2,300-pound bull for a score of 87.75. Hippy received a score of 43.00 points. I look forward to seeing him at more stops this season!!
Onto Kansas City, KS next weekend for the Kansas City Invitational.
This stop will be a 2-day event. See y’all next weekend!!
